Who and What is Three Ducks on a Roof?

Hello, I am AnitaI, Anita Horovenko, am the who. That is me on the left in April, 2002 holding my new business sign prepared by Egmont resident, sign painter, and potter extraordinaire Kim Freemantle. Don't I just look tickled pink even though I wouldn't be caught dead in the colour! No siree, no pink and frills; it is strictly Egmont attire for me: a Stanfield sweater and a pair of gumboots. People here in the village know summer has officially arrived when I stop wearing both.

Three Ducks on a Roof, the what, is my little business. It began on the farside of the Skookumchuck Narrows with my own quilted crafts which I sold at the various craft fairs on the coast. In May, 2002, I opened my gift shop across the Narrows in the heart of Egmont, a village located on British Columbia's beautiful Sunshine Coast just a ferry ride north of Vancouver. The gift shop which opens from May to September carries not only quilts and quilted items but artwork and crafts by many local and very talented artisans.

Now, last winter, when I began thinking; you see, winter on the wet coast with its short, soggy days is the time for thinking (when we concoct and plan all sorts of schemes) and summer with its longer, drier days is the time for doing (when we see if those schemes will work). So, I began thinking that maybe I could take my gift shop and put it on the internet and thereby turn my seasonal little business into a year round little business. However, it was a good winter for thinking so I didn't stop there and decided I could add Electric Quilt software which I think is skookum. Well, then, why not add material and notions while I am in the process of creating this retail empire in my mind? I was quite relieved when summer finally arrived which put an end to the thinking. So, welcome to the doing. Welcome, to ThreeDucksQuilting.com!
